Guarantor's guide: how to settle disputes and earn your fee

Step-by-step guide for the guarantor - what you do and cannot do, how rates work, how to review a dispute from documents and give a ruling.

4 min readUpdated:

The guarantor is the third party of a deal, trusted by both sides. They step in only for a dispute and decide how to split the money. The rest of the time they simply "stand behind the deal" and earn a small base rate for it.

  1. Step 1

    Understand your role

You can: review a dispute and set any split from "everything to the buyer" to "everything to the seller".

You cannot: take the money for yourself, change the deal's terms, cancel it without the parties' consent or influence it before a dispute is opened. Your reward is only the rate that was set in the deal when it was created. The guarantor cannot be the buyer or the seller.

  2. Step 2

    Get ready

All you need is a crypto wallet with a little of the network's main coin (ETH, POL or BNB) to pay for signing the ruling. Your wallet address is your guarantor "profile": it is what the parties enter when creating a deal.

  3. Step 3

    Agree the rates

The parties set two rates and both must suit you:

    • Base rate (up to 10%) - you receive it when the deal closes without your involvement: the buyer confirmed receipt, the parties cancelled by agreement, or the term expired. It is payment for readiness to take the deal.
    • Dispute rate (up to 30%, not below base) - you receive it if you actually resolved a dispute. It replaces the base rate, it does not add to it.

The minimum for each is 1%. The rate is calculated on the amount after the platform fee (1%).

Example: a 1,000 USDT deal. The platform takes 10, 990 remain. A 1% base rate gives you 9.90 on a normal finish. In a dispute with a 10% rate you receive 99 and distribute the remaining 891 between the parties.

  4. Step 4

    Receive the invitation

When you are named a guarantor there is nothing to sign. Opening the deal link with your wallet you see the deal waiting for the other side's acceptance and that you are named guarantor. Nothing is required from you yet.

  5. Step 5

    While the deal runs

If the parties handle it themselves - the buyer confirms, a mutual cancel, or the term expires - you receive the base rate automatically at the moment the deal closes. There is nothing to do.

  6. Step 6

    When a dispute is open

One of the parties presses "Open a dispute", and you have a task. You have 30 days from the opening to rule. It is shown on the deal page.

    1. Ask for documents. Ask both sides to send the terms document and evidence: conversations, confirmations, photos. Do this outside the platform - any convenient way.
    2. Check the document against the fingerprint. The deal page has a check box: paste the received text or file and the service shows whether it matches the fixed fingerprint. The result is shown for each side separately.
    3. Hear both sides. The ruling is made on documents and evidence, not on mood.

A document that does not match the fingerprint is a strong argument: it means one side is showing something other than what was agreed.

  7. Step 7

    Give your ruling

The deal page gives you the ruling form: a slider "How much the buyer receives" and quick options "Everything to the buyer", "Split equally", "Everything to the seller". Any share can be set.

Your reward - the dispute rate - is deducted from the amount before the split, so the parties share the cost in proportion to what they are awarded. Before confirming, the service shows the final amounts.

  8. Step 8

    Do not miss the deadline

If you do not manage within 30 days, either party can close the deal: the remainder splits 50/50 and you receive nothing, not even the base rate. This is deliberate: silence must not be more profitable than work.

  9. Step 9

    Safety tips

    • Do not take a document on trust: always check it against the fingerprint in the deal.
    • Do not accept extra payment "for the right ruling" from either side: you must stay impartial.
    • Never reveal your wallet's secret phrase to anyone - nobody will ask you for it for real.
    • If you are not ready to handle a complex dispute, decline the deal before it is created, not after.
